Name that Saint

Sooo.... how did you do? Could you name the saint?

The Chapels of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual adoration were built because of a promise made by Mother Antonia Herb (1827-1882). In 1865, Mother Antonis place a lard candle(because there were no sanctuary candles) on the altar and promised God that if He blessed the community of sisters that they would establish perpetual Eucharistic adoration and build chapels with the means they had available.

Two Franciscan sisters have been adoring our Eucharistic Lord in perpetual adoration since August 1, 1878.

The Chapels took four years to complete and were finished in 1906. This statue of St. Mary Magdelene is on the right of the main altar. During the building of the chapels the Mother Superior at the time was receiving complaints about the amount of money being spent on the chapels. So she took her concerns to prayer. She sought solace in the Word of God and when she opened her Bible it was opened to the scripture where Saint Mary Magdelene annoints Jesus feet with oil. She took this as a sign that the chapels were to be built as promised because we are to give our best and most beautiful treasures in building a house for God.

Saint Francis of Assisi had a special devotion to Saint Mary Magdelene and had chapels built in her honor. So it is only fitting that the Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration have shown honor to Saint Mary Magdelene because of their Franciscan spirituality and the guidance given to the Mother Superior to continue building the breathtakingly beautiful chapel for God.
