"Do my best to God and my country" These words are part of the Cub Scout Promise and The Boy Scout Oath. The Webelos Scout Handbook says "Your duty to God is done with God's help. That means you practice your religion at home, in your church or synagogue or other religious group and in everything you do." The 12th point of the Scout Law is 'A Scout is Reverent." The handbook tells us that "a scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties."
The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday. All over the country, Scouts take this day to acknowledge this duty to God publicly (in Scout attire.) At Sacred Heart Parish we are blessed that our Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are eager and proud to participate not just on this Sunday, but every week.
On Scout Sunday, Boy Scouts Bobby Anderson, Ben Cohen and Jacob Cohen were altar servers; Boy Scout Will Anderson was greeter; Webelos Ben Lahart and Luke Lahart led the Holy Rosary before Mass; Ben & Luke Lahart with Cub Scouts Austin Metzger and Ethan Fehrer were gift bearers. Also in attendance and participating were Adult leaders Kris Anderson, Tom Anderson, Jennifer Fehrer and Mary Katherine Laird. Fr. Christopher Pisut is himself an Eagle Scout.
