Study Offered During Religious Ed

Created and Redeemed is an Eight-Part Adult Faith Formation Program Based on Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body. John Paul II's revolutionary teaching on love and human sexuality has transformed the lives of millions by answering such questions as:

• What is the meaning of life? How do we experience it?

• Why were we created male and female?

• Why is there evil in the world and how do we overcome it?

• How has our culture been selling us a counterfeit vision of sex and what can we do about it?
• Why is Christianity's teaching on sex and marriage the key to happiness?

The study of Created and Redeemed will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30. The study starts October 6.  The cost of the study will be $8.00. Make payments out to Sacred Heart.  Donations to cover the extra cost of running the program would be greatly appreciated.  Please sign up by September 8.   You may drop your registration in the collection basket with an envelope marked Created and Redeemed.

One of Three Studies for this Fall

James is one of the most practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs, it is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between the competing demands of this world and their faith. This study offers "pearls for wise living" by applying the wisdom of James to the present day. For anyone who has struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers a wealth of practical solutions for handling and even sanctifying everyday circumstances.

You Will:

• Find an anchor to hold you steady through the storms of life.
• Learn how just a few small words can change your entire life for better or for worse.
• See how God’s wisdom helps us face suffering and temptation.
• Learn the secret to finding joy in the midst of trials.
• Find value in suffering.
• Find reason to trust in God’s providence over wealth or position or personal talent.
• Learn to recognize the source of discord and the way to peace.

The Bible study for the Letter of James will be held on Wednesday evenings from 8:00-10p.m.  The cost of the study will be $25.00. Survey for the Bible Timeline

Sacred Heart Parish would like to offer the The Bible Timeline study again this year. The Bible Timeline is the introductory study of the The Great Adventure. This remarkable journey through the Bible gives participants the "big picture" they need to put the entire story into context. Salvation history is covered from its beginning in Genesis through the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church. A clear understanding of the underlying Scriptural narrative is essential to all Bible reading and study, and for this reason The Bible Timeline is the first foundational study in The Great Adventure Bible Study Series. A combination of individual reading and study, group discussion, and lecture commentary guides participants as they read through the 14 narrative books of the Bible and discover the meaning of each in light of the whole. The Bible Timeline is an immensely rich study, diving deep into each time period of salvation history. The Bible Timeline is basic enough to suit those who haven't studied the Bible before while at the same time offering ways to go deeper that will challenge the Bible study veteran. Salvation history is covered from its beginning in Genesis through the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church.
