Epic- Church History Study

The Epic History study has gotten off to a great start. There are 33 participants in this study. This is the highest number of participation for any study offered by Sacred Heart. Thanks to all who have signed up and showed up.

This Wednesday will be the third session. The first session started with the Acts of the Apostles and ended at the year 99 A.D. The second session covered the years 100 – 235. It is amazing to see the zeal of the early Christians. They did not seek martyrdom but they also did not run away from it. Many pagans were converted by the example of the early Christians: their love and care for one another, there love and care for non-Christians and their willingness to die for their faith in a heroic and many times joyful manner. The letters of the first popes, apologist and historians show that the teachings of the Church today have been there from the very beginning.

As Catholics, we are heirs to a remarkable heritage. The history of our Faith is so much more than a list of facts and dates. It is a fascinating story of adventure, rebellion, tragedy, and triumph. A story 2,000 years in the making, one word best describes Catholic history: Epic.

Epic: A Journey through Church History is a captivating and fast-paced look at the story of the Catholic Church. Beginning with the lives of the apostles all the way up to the present day, Epic takes the immense history of the Church and simplifies it into twelve, color-coded time periods. In the course of twenty sessions, participants learn about the major people, places, and events that comprise the captivating story of Christianity. This Study provides participants with an understanding of Church history that enables them to have a greater sense of meaning and identity as Catholics.

Join us for the Epic: A Journey through Church History beginning Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m. The cost of the the study will be $30.00. Make payments out to Sacred Heart. Donations to cover the extra cost of running the program would be greatly appreciated. Please sign up by Sunday, September 6.
