Glory of God

Father,

Why do we offer something to God for His greater glory?... when God has a complete glory?

Thanks,
Dora

Dora,

You are correct in that there is nothing that we can do to add to God's glory. However, because of the glory of God we who are aware of it are called to make it known. We offer things to God because of his glory and to make that glory known to those who may not be aware of it. For example, in the preaching of the Gospel or the celebration of Holy Mass we add nothing to God's glory but people become aware of it when they hear and grasp the word of God or come in contact with the glory of God in the mystery and transcendence of the Mass. In Preface four for weekday Mass the priest proclaims, " Our praise adds nothing to your greatness but is your gift to us to help us to grow in holiness."
